I was looking to my favorite pics in all my instagram since I opened my blog, and I totally forgot how amazing are my photos from my trip to India. I totally fell in love with this country, its culture, its people and of course its fashion! This is why I decided to share with you my looks from my visit and the meaning of each garment.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
SARI OR SAREE
Staple of Indian women clothing, functional garment worn everyday by women in India, it is a a drape from 4 to 8 mts long.
I didn’t know how to wear it and some lovely Indian ladies helped me put it on, its not very complicated but it requires patience and practice.
Red & Green Saree
The are many fabrics and patterns for each Saree, you can pick any style you like.
BLUE SAREE
You can wear your Saree in different styles. Most of the woman in India are dressed like this, you can find amazing sarees, blouses, skirts, bags, shoes & jewelry literally on the street!
I bought this lovely fabric on a textile store, it was about 80 dollars. I´m plannig to make a cool pair of pants or a skirt with the fabric, what do you think?
LEHENGA CHOLI
This is an exaple of how woman in India dress for parties, I bought this amazing design on the street! it was about 20 bucks and the shoes 10 bucks!
TOURIST LOOKS
This are looks I bought before the trip, they were perfect and comfy, if you don´t want to dress as the woman in india, you can bring this style of pants or long skirts.
BINDI AND MEHNDI
Bindi: Represents the third eye, the sixth chakra, women use a red one that means they are married, nowadays young ladies wear it in different colors just for fashion as a jewelry accessorie.
Mehndi: Body art, with henna plant, used for artistic, ritual and ceremonial use. When a woman gets married she tattoes most of her hands and feet.
SHOES
They wear different styles, this is a comfy leather pair they wear on their daily life
SALWAR KAMEEZ
This is a comfy look, many ladies form the northern parts of India like Punjab wear. I totally loved them and I bought two, on a little store outside a palace we visited.
I’ve worn my salwar kameez some weekends here in Mexico, to go to lake places or even for the beach, you can wear the blouse as a dress or the pants alone.
I wanted to buy everything in India, they have unique pieces and everything is hand made. They have amazing fabrics and designs!
This coat I bought is made out of a vintage Saree!! And I also bought some shoes and bags!
