One of the pleasures of life is eating and I personally love it! My favorite food is Mexican and Japanese, wherever I go I try to find restaurants that match my fave dishes. I’m also a meat lover, specially if it has very good quality and I definitely found one of the best meat restaurants in Sydney. Depending on your tastes and cravings, if you have the opportunity to visit one of them, I highly recommend it!
Uno de los placeres de la vida es comer y a mi en lo personal ¡me encanta! Mi comida favorita es la mexicana y japonesa, a donde voy trato de buscar restaurantes de este estilo. También soy fan de la carne, en especial cuando es de muy buena calidad y esta muy bien preparada. Es por esto que en Sídney encontré mis restaurantes favoritos que tienen un poco de todo. Dependiendo de sus gustos y antojos, si tienen la oportunidad de visitar alguno ¡se los recomiendo muchísimo!
1.- Saké
Since I arrived to Sydney, I was looking for a very good Japanese restaurant, and I definitely found it on my last days. It won recognized prizes such as the “Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Chef ‘s Hat “, and it became one of my favorites. The food is amazing, its similar to Japanese restaurants in Mexico, with a little spice in their dishes. I loved their decor and atmosphere, perfect for dinner with friends, family or your love one. It has a delicious cocktail menu and it is located next to one of the best nightclubs in Sydney, the Argyle. I highly recommend to make a reservation because they get fully booked!
-What to order? Pop corn tempura, kingfish jalapeño, tuna ceviche, sashimi tacos, green tea kit kat and miso caramel fondant.
Desde que llegué a Australia estaba buscando un restaurante Japonés y en mis últimos días encontré Saké, que además de haber ganado reconocidos premios como el “Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Chef’s Hat”, se convirtió en uno de mis favoritos. La comida esta deliciosa y es parecida a los restaurantes japoneses en México, con un poco de picante en sus platillos. La decoración y ambiente son perfectos para ir a cenar con amigos, familia o con tu pareja. Tiene un menú de coctelería delicioso y además esta ubicado al lado de uno de los mejores antros de Sydney, el Argyle. Les recomiendo hacer reservación porque siempre hay mucha gente.
-¿Qué pedir? Palomitas de camarón tempura, kingfish jalapeño, ceviche de atún, tacos de sashimi, Kit kat de té verde y fondant de caramelo.
2.- Méjico
I chose this one not only because I’m Mexican, but for its unique and delicious food. I had never tasted such delicious and different dishes, not loosing their mexican style. They also offer a tequila tasting for those who love this drink. It’s decor is original and I loved the details like the giant shot of tequila you get as a glass for water. Its perfect to go with your friends, to have drinks at the bar or to celebrate some special date. You also need to make a reservation because it is always crowded!
-What to order? Guacamole, corn lollipops, pork tacos, chorizo salsa and flourless chocolate cake.
No solo lo escogí porque soy Mexicana, sino por su comida, que me pareció original y de muy alta calidad. Jamás había probado platillos tan ricos y únicos de este estilo. Hay mucho ambiente y es perfecto para hacer degustaciones de tequila para aquellos que les guste esta bebida. Me encantaron sus detalles en la decoración, como que el agua te la sirven en un shot de tequila gigante. Se los recomiendo muchísimo y también deben hacer reservación porque siempre hay mucha gente¡No se lo pierdan!
-¿Qué pedir? Guacamole, lollipops de elote, tacos de cerdo, salsa de chorizo y pastel de chocolate sin harina.
3.- Meat & Wine Co.
For meat lovers this is definitely one of my favorites in the world. The lamb ribs are the best ones I’ve ever had. They have very high quality meat with the perfect texture and flavor. If you are adventurous and want to try the typical kangaroo meat, this is the place to do it. It also has one of the most beautiful views of Sydney, to Darling Harbor. Perfect to have a romantic dinner or to go with your friends. Don’t miss it!
-What to order? Lamb ribs, pork belly, portuguese shrimp and chocolate fondant.
Para los amantes de la carne este es sin duda uno de mis favoritos del mundo. Las costillas de cordero son las más ricas que he probado en mi vida. La calidad de la carne es extraordinaria con un sabor y textura perfectos. Si son atrevidos, les gusta experimentar y quieren probar la típica carne de canguro, este es el lugar perfecto para hacerlo. Además tiene una de las vistas más bonitas de Sydney, hacia Darling Harbor. Es perfecto para ir a una cena romántica o con amigos. ¡No se les olvide hacer reservación!
¿Qué pedir? Costillas de cordero, pork belly, camarones portugueses y fondant de chocolate.
4.-The Grounds of Alexandria, The Potting Shed
It is a place where you’ll find a relaxed and natural atmosphere, surrounded by plants on the roof, pots and benches. Most of the ingredients used in their dishes are served from its organic garden, making it a natural and delicious food. You can go to eat with your friends or have a few drinks in its bar. On the terrace they have a campfire where they serve you tea and you can burn marshmallows. It is lighted beautiful at night, don’t miss it!
-What to order? The Shed platter, pulled pork shoulder sándwich, australian mussels and salted caramel popcorn.
Es un lugar con ambiente relajado y natural, rodeado de plantas en el techo, macetas y bancas. La mayoría de sus ingredientes se obtienen del huerto orgánico de su jardín, lo cual les permite ofrecer comida natural y deliciosa. Pueden ir a comer o a tomar algo en el bar, esta lo máximo. En la parte de afuera tienen una fogata donde pueden tomar té y hacer bombones. Además lo iluminan hermoso en la noche.
-¿Qué pedir? The Shed platter, sándwich de cerdo deshebrado, mejillones australianos y palomitas de salted caramel.
5.-Mr Wong
If you like Chinese food , this is one of the most beautiful and delicious restaurants I’ve ever eaten. It is hard to get there, because its located in an alley in Sydney, but when you arrive, it´s totally worth it. It´s decor has a colonial style with a French twist, it´s amazing. If you like duck they have a really good one here. Make a reservation because it is always fully booked.
-What to order? Mr. Wong’s special fried rice with pork and prawn, chinese roasted duck, chocolate and hazelnut cake and mousse with passion fruit custard and chocolate ice cream.
Si les gusta la comida China, este lugar ofrece platillos deliciosos; además es uno de los lugares más bonitos donde la he comido. Es difícil llegar ya que esta en un callejón de Sydney, pero al estar ahí todo valdrá la pena. La decoración es de ladrillos con bambúes, sillas estilo colonial con un toque francés. Hay mucha gente, así que también les recomiendo hacer reservación para asegurar su lugar.
-¿Qué pedir? Arroz especial Mr. Wong’s, pato asado chino, pastel de chocolate y avellana con flan de fruta de la pasión y helado de chocolate.
